TRIBE CARIBE: Turning a hotel into a Caribbean Art Exhibition.

Tribe Caribe co-founders Chris Cornell and Andrés Levin advance their vision of a haven for Caribbean creativity by transforming the hotel’s guest rooms and common areas into dynamic mini gallery spaces. The new exhibition opened on February 27, 2025, and was curated by Sachie Hernández and David Guerra. The selection delves into themes of identity, spirituality, and unity within the Caribbean, resonating with the region’s historical and contemporary realities.

THE CURATORS: VOICES OF VISION

Sachie Hernández, a Havana-based curator and founder of La Sindical, brings a collaborative ethos to her work. Her vision for Tribe Caribe is rooted in the celebration of Caribbean culture and the interconnectedness of its islands. “The hotel offers a space to rethink our identities and showcase the diversity of Caribbean artistry,” she explains.

David Guerra, a Havana native now based in Puerto Rico, is a curator and professor with a deep focus on contemporary Caribbean art. For him, the project is an act of decolonization. “The Caribbean has been fragmented by colonial powers. This exhibition allows us to see ourselves as a unified region, fostering dialogue and resistance through art,” Guerra states.

TRIBE CARiBEʼS VISION: A PAN-CARIBBEAN APPROACH

The curators’ aim was to expand the hotel’s artistic reach. This iteration includes talent from across the Caribbean. “We wanted to create a broader representation of the region,” says Hernández. The collection features works that explore themes such as resilience, spirituality, and shared heritage, offering guests a profound connection to the Caribbean’s cultural heartbeat.
